Day Two:
After breakfast, we will travel to our Simuina camp where we will sleep overnight. While here we will venture deep into the delta jungle and through small rivers. Where the Warao Indians settled hundreds of years ago to escape and hide from the cannibal Carib Indians, who made regular trips from the Caribbean Islands to hunt the Warao, for food.
As we advance deeper into this land of alluring beauty, you will become aware of the transformation in flora. From strictly giant mangrove trees to a spectacular variety of trees and palms. This area is also rich in tropical wildlife, including blue and yellow macaws, toucans, parrots, hawks, catfish, tarpon, boa constrictors, tapirs, ocelots, cougars and jaguars.
We will also visit the indigenous Warao and learn how they adapted to life in this unforgiving environment. We will also travel in canoes through small rivers to observe the wildlife and an unforgettable jungle trek with expert guides, who will explain some of the many secrets of the delta. At the end of this day, we will sleep in hammocks like the Indiginous Warao. |
